These are unprecedented times and as such, we find it necessary to regularly inform and update our customers not only on our Opening status and times but also the measures we take to ensure your products are delivered safely and in the best possible condition.

Corona-virus (or COVID-19 as it is more commonly known) is a respiratory illness and it is so far not known to be transmitted by exposure to food or food packaging in any way or form.

Although it is very unlikely that corona-virus is transmitted through food, as a matter of good hygiene practice we have ensured that all our staff handling food wash their hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. This is now done as a matter of routine every 30 minutes, before and after handling food, and especially after being in a public place. Our hands are one of the main ways that germs are spread. Harmful bacteria can be spread very easily from people’s hands to food, work surfaces and equipment. It’s hence always important to wash them thoroughly with soap and warm water before handling food

The four main things to remember for good hygiene in your food business are the 4Cs: cleaning, cooking, chilling and avoiding cross-contamination. It’s very important to store food properly to keep it safe and we consequently keep all our goods in sealed containers and at the correct temperature in order to protect them from harmful bacteria, objects falling into them, and avoids cross-contamination with other ingredients.

What is more, we frequently clean and disinfect objects and surfaces that are touched regularly, using our standard cleaning products and make sure all staff do this regularly throughout the day. The risk of catching the virus that causes COVID-19 from a package that has been moved, travelled, and exposed to different conditions and temperature is also very low.

In addition, we have ensured that any food handler that works for the Greek deli (including our suppliers in communication with them) who is unwell should not be at work, throughout this period and isolate themselves for a minimum of 3 weeks.
